![]() There is currently a promotion that drops the price to $140 AUD, but even then it's still more than I'd like to pay. Two main problems however is that whenever a disc is inserted a small dialogue will open and scan the disc first, resulting in a longer load time (I don't care, but at least one of the people using it will), and the software is quite pricey, at $175 AUD ($135 USD / 109€) for the lifetime licence, which is what I would obviously need as this is meant to a set and forget setup. A lot of people online recommend AnyDVD HD from RedFox, and after using the trial, it does exactly what I need, simply allow Kodi (and other players for that matter) to read the disc without the encryption issue. cfg files available for players like VLC, however in my experience this method doesn't support newer releases, and they don't seem to be working for Kodi anyway (unless I'm doing something wrong) even following tutorials. I've been looking around for a while, and there is. The problem of course is while it has no trouble with DVDs, Blu Rays have a level of encryption that prevents them from being played on devices without the specific keys. I plan to use Kodi as the main software, as it has the ability to stream content I have on my server and other services such as Netflix, as well as play discs natively (makes it easier for everyone else). I'm building a media centre for the living room that will take the place of our Chromecast and Blu Ray player. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, sorry if it isn't.
