![]() ![]() or Manhattan, and that’s not an unusual sight. Sure, the fuel economy makes that sentence absurd, but so is the person who drives a Mercedes G-Wagen to work in L.A. That said, unlike a Hellcat, the TRX is actually very comfy as a daily driver. Michael Frankīoth the TRX’s 8,100-pound towing limit and 1,310 pounds of payload slightly trail the Ford’s 8,200- and 1,400-pound ratings, but again, if you’re paying for carting, this isn’t your rig, and neither is the Raptor-go get a Ram 2500 with its 4,010-pound payload for that. The 20 TRX is the wildest and loudest of desert-bashing off-road performance trucks, with 702 horsepower and a suspension bred for high-speed off roading. Paddle shifters allow flicking through the eight-speed transmission, and the closest (gas) competitor, the 450-horsepower Ford Raptor, simply cannot come close for zero-to-60 acceleration, nor is the Ford interior anywhere near as snazzy. With 11.8 inches of ground clearance and fully adjustable Bilstein dampers, little short of a sheer cliff face can stand in its way.īut let’s be honest: You’re buying, if you have the means, for scorching speed, and even at half throttle, the Hemi propels this beast at a scary-fast velocity. Or, for rock crawling, manually select four-wheel-low, which locks the rear differential and splits power 50/50 between the front and rear axles. Choose Baja mode, which changes transmission shifts, traction control settings, and adjusts the suspension for flying through the desert. ![]() We know that 99% of buyers will never let their bruiser play in a sandbox, yet the TRX still comes equipped for dirt. Even at idle, the five-inch dual-piped exhaust puffs the Ram’s “muscle truck” chest. Hit the start button and you’ll wake the neighbors. Before you ever engage ignition at the helm of the 20 TRX, the truck’s flat-bottomed steering wheel is a dead giveaway you’re here for performance, first, second, and likely fifth.
